Engaging Religious leaders in Southern Africa in the struggle for social justice for all

Break Out Session Round #2

Description

Religious leaders hold significant political influence and have been key drivers for social justice in the region. They have also been among the most visible opponents against rights for LGBT-people. But change is coming. An increasing number is speaking out against violence, and in Botswana church leaders voiced support for decriminalization. The Council of Churches and The Lesbians, Gays & Bisexuals of Botswana will share experiences in creating dialogues between religious leaders, LGBT-people and their families – and the life saving changes this leads to. Could this be a model to facilitate change in even more countries in the region?
