Arnold Busck, Copenhagen’s historic and iconic bookshop, has announced a partnership with Copenhagen 2021, hosting WorldPride and EuroGames in the Danish capital and Malmö next year.
The store – which has supported Copenhagen Pride for many years – will host cultural events, readings, meet-the-author opportunities and discussions during Copenhagen 2021, which runs from 12-22 August 2021. The partnership coincides with Arnold Busck’s 125th anniversary.
Words are incredibly important because language is a means of power. After all, language helps to create our worldview, so if you use derogatory words about groups that are already marginalized or stigmatized, you can keep them in that position.
Literature conveys all types of words, knowledge and stories, and by virtue of the fact that we convey all kinds of literature, we hope that we can provide a free space, for those who feel they do not speak, are misinterpreted or assigned a role they have not chosen. That is why we support Pride every year and are especially excited to be supporting Copenhagen 2021 for WorldPride and EuroGames!

Arnold Busck’s store windows on Købmagergade are decorated with rainbow hearts for Copenhagen Pride 2020, and the store plans an extensive decoration for Copenhagen 2021.
Arnold Busck is an iconic Copenhagen brand and it’s wonderful to have them on board with Copenhagen 2021. LGBTI+ people often have their earliest personal discoveries about sexuality and gender identity through literature and we are delighted that this partnership will highlight LGBTI+ authors, titles and genres to the thousands of visitors we will welcome next summer.
