The Intersectionality Between Religion and Sexuality and Between Religion and Human Rights

Break Out Session Round #4

Description

The intersectionality between religion and sexuality and between religion and human rights is often full of conflict. Activists around the world say that the main opposition to LGBTI inclusion is religious-based discrimination. With the increase in religious fundamentalism in many parts of the world, the advancement of LGBTI human rights can no longer be taken for granted, and fighting religion may no longer be our main strategy. Rev. Dr. Brent Hawkes founded Rainbow Faith and Freedom to confront religious-based homophobia and transphobia. This workshop will focus on strategies that RFF is using to confront religious-based discrimination.
